The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued yesterday a Severe Influenza Illness Alert recommending that High Risk Patients (children under 2, adults over 65, residents of care facilites, and immune system conpromised individuals) immediatly seek treatment

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued yesterday a Severe Influenza Illness Alert recommending that High Risk Patients (children under 2, adults over 65, residents of care facilities, and immune system compromised individuals) immediately seek treatment if they have flu-like symptoms. The CDC has received reports of severe respiratory illness among young to middle aged adults some of whom required intensive care admission. Deaths have also been reported.

The culprit is the Influenza A (H1N1)virus. The CDC is urging that all individuals over 6 months receive the influenza vaccine.
