There isn’t a day that goes by that we aren’t reading in the news that antibiotic resistance is on the rise and superbugs are becoming more common place.

You may feel helpless, but here are a few things you can do reduce antibiotic resistance in your family.

  • If you have a viral infection like a cold or flu, including a sore throat give yourself time to heal naturally - it generally will last for 5 - 10 days.
  • Ask lots of questions when being prescribed with an antibiotic, as every time you take one, you are killing normal flora your body needs for protecting itself against further infections.
  • Look for a non-antibiotic option first. Talk to your pharmacist or naturopath.
